Nutrition for Disease Prevention

This webinar will explore nutrition for disease prevention.

This webinar will explore the following topics: 

  • Some of the preventable diseases – HTN, Diabetes, Heart Disease, High Cholesterol

  • Eating for Diabetes – limit sugar, limit processed foods, limit easy carbs, etc.

  • Eating for HTN – limit salt intake, limit processed foods, watch out for sodium in meats, etc.

  • Eating for High Cholesterol – limit saturated fats, cholesterol, red meats because of fats, eat oatmeal and garlic, etc.

  • Eating for Heart Disease – limit saturated and trans fats, limit red meats, similar to high cholesterol nutrition, etc.

  • Adding in realistic exercise – walking, biking, jogging, etc.

*Always consult your PCP and don’t stop taking meds until approval!

The impact of the pandemic and the violence in our communities are two major causes that are impacting adolescent mental health. If you feel like you could learn more about the stages that our youth are going through and the impact of current events may be having on their mental health, chime in to our “Understanding Adolescent Mental Health” Workshop, on Wednesday, October 20, 2021 at 7pm.   • Workshop attendees will learn about 6 areas of youth development

  • Increasing awareness of the impact of pandemic and violence on adolescent mental health.
